If you were a swimmer at the time… you remember when this movie came out:

From the perspective of any true swimmer, this movie was simply ridiculous. If we watched it…it was to make fun of it. But thankfully, there is a new film on the horizon that would finally do right by the swimming community. A friend of ours and USA Swimming Correspondent, Mike Gustafson, recently wrote about a new documentary currently in production, which follows Missy Franklin and Kara Lynn Joyce in the build-up to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Read his article and follow the link to a trailer here:

touch the wall

As you’ll read in the above link, the film is currently in post-production, and looking for funding…$110,000 to be exact. The creators of Touch the Wall are turning to Kickstarter to raise the money, and that means we can all have a part in bringing this documentary to life! It’s actually pretty exciting if you’re a “swim fan”, because if you donate to the Kickstarter project, you could get perks like seeing your name in the credits…all the way to VIP tickets to the premiere and a stroke clinic from one of the featured Olympic athletes!

We can’t wait to see it and we’ll definitely be doing our part!!!

  1. I definitely went to see that movie just for laughs when it came out! There was another movie “Pride” that came out about swimming, and I really enjoyed it. I think the biggest problem is that the people they try to sell as fast swimmers in film look nothing like fast swimmers once they hit the water! Kudos to the makers of the film “The Guardian” about Coastguard rescue swimmers for using real swimmers! A few I remember from “back in the day” 😉
