Rocking my Training, Hope You are too!!!

Hi! Just wanted to check in quickly and see how everyone’s training is going. Mine is going really well! I had a nasty ankle sprain that I’ve been working around for the last month, but it feels so much better now. I’ve been doing a lot of cardio and circuit training and even building in some run intervals on the treadmill. Most of you know I’m a swimmer, not a runner (barely even a jogger), so trying to improve my running is my current focus.

On Monday evening I’m going to be taking part in a ‘neon’ spin class involving loud music, black lights and 3 trainers. It is a special 1.5 hour session and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve also really made some big adjustments to my diet because I found out I wasn’t eating enough protein for the amount of muscle I have. It took some work at first, but I’m adjusting to it nicely and really seeing some big improvements in my overall fitness.

Aside from that, we waterbloggers have an exciting announcement we’ll be making soon – bear with me because I’m excited but don’t want to say too much too soon.

  1. Glad you are back from injury! I’ve been running a ton and have finally gotten back to swimming after a long winter break – my first group swim practice is Monday 🙂

    • Thanks! Me too – it happened on my first day with a new training program and I was so disappointed! Side to side movement still hurts but other than that it is much better. I was thinking about your swimming and think you should try some finishing drills (I think it is my previous post) to help you lengthen your stroke when you get back in. I hope you have a lot of fun getting back in the water and that you have zero shoulder issues! You should still work on a high elbow to keep your shoulder in check as a preventative measure!!! I’ll be on the bike Monday but I hope you have fun in the water!

      • Thanks so much! I’ll try out the drills and definitely concentrate on the high elbow. I just biked today – it was beautiful out, but I’m so tired. Looking forward to being in the water tomorrow instead 🙂

  2. Hope the running is going OK! I had my first swim related “accident” this week – head on collision! I now have an egg-sized, egg-shaped bump above my left eye.

    • Oh NO!!! That stinks!!! Was it a case of somebody forgetting what side they were swimming on? If it makes you feel better, it happens more often than you’d think. Vicky, one of my fellow waterbloggers, got a black eye from a similar run in our freshman year. The ironic part was she was in the correct side! The girl that was daydreaming in the distance lane was fine! Oh man, I hope you feel better soon.

  3. Glad to hear all is going well and that the ankle is healing up. I just finished my first training brick yesterday… feels sorta awesome!

    • Hey, that is awesome!!! I can’t wait to read about it!!! I have to apologize for missing the last week of posts, but I will get caught up soon. I can’t complain about being busy but I do feel out of the loop. Thanks for sharing that with me. Are you going to be doing bricks regularly now or are they a special part of your training plan that you only do as a test?
