One Strategy To Navigate Open Water

NBC posted a great clip of USA Triathlete, Gwen Jorgensen, discussing her strategy during the swimming leg of a triathlon. Obviously, it is challenge to swim with 60 or 70 other people, some of whom might not play as nice as she does. Despite the brutalities in the water, Gwen said she doesn’t fight back.

In fact, her strategy is the exact opposite:

“I just try to remain calm, let happen what’s gonna happen. I don’t want to fight back because I think that just wastes energy. So I just let it happen; If I’m dunked underwater, pulled back, whatever it is, just let it happen… and then continue on.”

-Gwen Jorgensen, USA Olympic Triathlete

Welcome to the shark tank, Gwen! We’ll be cheering for you in the Olympics! If you’d like to watch the full video clip on NBC, you can find it here.
